The Albert Pike Highway is named for the famous Freemason of Arkansas. He was born in Boston in December, 1809 but found his way to Arkansas via Santa Fe in the 1830s. He worked as an author, editor, lawyer, teacher and was very involved in Arkansas politics. He was a soldier in the Mexican war and fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. In addition to this auto trail, many schools, streets, parks and monuments are also named for him in Arkansas.
